Trio Forró das Flores brengt de warmte, energie en rijkdom van de traditionele muziek uit Noordoost-Brazilië naar het podium. Drie gepassioneerde muzikanten nemen je mee op een muzikale reis vol ritme, samenzang en dans.
Melissa Morcote, afkomstig uit Colombia, is een veelzijdige zangeres en muzikante met een diepe liefde voor de Braziliaanse cultuur. Gefascineerd door de poëzie, muziek en dans van Brazilië speelt ze in diverse forró- en sambaprojecten. Binnen Trio Forró das Flores verzorgt ze de zang en bespeelt ze de triangel en dwarsfluit.
Elizabeth Fadel is een Braziliaanse multi-instrumentaliste en virtuoos op piano en accordeon. Haar passie voor de muziek uit Noordoost-Brazilië inspireerde haar om in Nederland een authentiek forró pé-de-serra-project op te richten. Met haar spel en kennis vormt zij het muzikale hart van het trio.
Henrike Melcher is een Duitse percussioniste, woonachtig in Rotterdam. Ze speelt in verschillende bands, waaronder Las Hienas, en brengt met haar krachtige zabumba-spel en warme zang de onweerstaanbare groove van de forró tot leven.
Verwacht een avond vol forró, baião, xote, arrasta-pé, coco en xaxado – muziek die rechtstreeks uit het hart van Brazilië komt en uitnodigt om te bewegen. Trio Forró das Flores brengt de sfeer van een traditionele arraial naar het podium, waar luisteren en dansen vanzelf samengaan.
Os Gringos do Samba (The Strangers of the Samba) is the perfect name for the band: it gives us the freedom to make “Gringo mistakes”, such as playing other, non-samba types of Brazilian music, or give our own twist to a song.
The band has a long history and was founded at the end of 2006. Over the years, the lineup of the band has changed. Most of the people who left, are still friends of the band, and may occasionally join at a concert. As it is now, the group is a colourful mixture of six Brazilians and six Europeans, based in the Netherlands with a deep passion for Brazilian music.
What binds us together is that we love to share this passion and the tremendous fun of making Brazilian music with our audience. Any audience: be it at a festival, such as the Jazz Festival Delft, a birthday celebration of a friend, big wedding parties, official receptions or anniversaries of any kind, Os Gringos do Samba will make people smile and dance!
Despite the term Samba in the band’s name, we play a selection of the enormous variety of Brazilian rhythms other than Samba, such as Forró, Frevo, Carimbo en Samba-Reggae. The connoisseurs will recognize famous and also more intimate songs of some of Brazil’s greatest artists. In this way, in all modesty, Os Gringos do Samba hopes to be a good ambassador of the rich Brazilian musical culture.

Nick do Mundo, dj en selector van Vibrasom Collective, neemt je mee op een muzikale reis door de rijke klanken van Brazilië.
Voor deze bijzondere gelegenheid verkent hij de veelzijdigheid van de Braziliaanse muziek, van verfijnde jazz en bossa nova tot de warme ritmes van Música Nordestina.
